Deployment

If we or "they" no I
could say anything we wanted
no tried to or rather
rain drops through the gutter
keep time
our family said deployment
not "our" but maybe this
mind takes over every time
but it is not the same one
the sun comes up
it is summer now
to speak of seeds
without rules
those that are there
in the corner
the far corner
one by one
each in place

before they take off
tests put into the skin
by lifting
the bevel just right
light catches the tip
low dead space
eyes closed see
boxes for some reason
it is tuesday now
certainly it is tuesday
for some reason
we call it tuesday
these people say deploy
and flash flood warning

a bride walks by
the little drops move
down the hill toward
a lake somewhere
there are all these lakes
in this town
there are only birds
left behind
Hum-
mingbird

you
come
by
fast

and deploy
on monday
certainly monday
is for strangers
and hearts

kisses for Mary
so many kisses
her eyes are cornflower
do you know son
the color of cornflowers
the history of that
hummingbird and by friday
she will marry
but this is tuesday
certainly
we know summer
only lasts so long
happy hot he said
he said happy hot
he said mom it is happy hot
and he said except

and he kisses Mary
and he said to me once
I will buy you
a purple necklace
come back all the time

he will come back all the time
but the only things
I could ever keep safe were
that necklace
those seeds
and his old dimes.

This one speaks to lots of changes out of your hands - sad and powerful.
