The USS Liberty.

Maybe one day these Americans will get their day in court. One day when Israel is labeled the entire axis of evil in the modern world and sanctioned by the civilized world until it disappears off the map forever.

1. That on June 8, 1967, after eight hours of aerial surveillance, Israel launched a two-hour air and naval attack against USS Liberty, the world's most sophisticated intelligence ship, inflicting 34 dead and 173 wounded American servicemen (a casualty rate of 70 percent, in a crew of 294);

2. That the Israeli air attack lasted approximately 25 minutes, during which time unmarked Israeli aircraft dropped napalm canisters on USS Liberty's bridge and fired 30mm cannons and rockets into our ship, causing 821 holes, more than 100 of which were rocket-size; survivors estimate 30 or more sorties were flown over the ship by a minimum of 12 attacking Israeli planes which were jamming all five American emergency radio channels;

3. That the torpedo boat attack involved not only the firing of torpedoes, but the machine-gunning of Liberty's firefighters and stretcher-bearers as they struggled to save their ship and crew; the Israeli torpedo boats later returned to machine-gun at close range three of the Liberty's life rafts that had been lowered into the water by survivors to rescue the most seriously wounded;

4. That there is compelling evidence that Israel's attack was a deliberate attempt to destroy an American ship and kill her entire crew; evidence of such intent is supported by statements from Secretary of State Dean Rusk, Undersecretary of State George Ball, former CIA Director Richard Helms, former NSA Directors Lt. Gen. William Odom, USA (Ret.), Adm. Bobby Ray Inman, USN (Ret.), and Marshal Carter; former NSA deputy directors Oliver Kirby and Maj. Gen. John Morrison, USAF (Ret.); and former Ambassador Dwight Porter, U.S. Ambassador to Lebanon in 1967;

5. That in attacking USS Liberty, Israel committed acts of murder against American servicemen and an act of war against the United States;

6. That fearing conflict with Israel, the White House deliberately prevented the U.S. Navy from coming to the defense of USS Liberty by recalling Sixth Fleet military rescue support while the ship was under attack; evidence of the recall of rescue aircraft is supported by statements of Capt. Joe Tully, Commanding Officer of the aircraft carrier USS Saratoga, and Rear Admiral Lawrence Geis, the Sixth Fleet carrier division commander, at the time of the attack; never before in American naval history has a rescue mission been cancelled when an American ship was under attack;

7. That although Liberty was saved from almost certain destruction through the heroic efforts of the ship's captain, William L. McGonagle (MOH), and his brave crew, surviving crewmembers were later threatened with "court-martial, imprisonment or worse" if they exposed the truth; and were abandoned by their own government;

8. That due to the influence of Israel's powerful supporters in the United States, the White House deliberately covered up the facts of this attack from the American people;

9. That due to continuing pressure by the pro-Israel lobby in the United States, this attack remains the only serious naval incident that has never been thoroughly investigated by Congress; to this day, no surviving crewmember has been permitted to officially and publicly testify about the attack;

10. That there has been an official cover-up without precedent in American naval history; the existence of such a cover-up is now supported by statements of Rear Adm. Merlin Staring, USN (Ret.), former Judge Advocate General of the Navy; and Capt. Ward Boston, USN, (Ret.), the chief counsel to the Navy's 1967 Court of Inquiry of Liberty attack;

11. That the truth about Israel's attack and subsequent White House cover-up continues to be officially concealed from the American people to the present day and is a national disgrace;

12. That a danger to our national security exists whenever our elected officials are willing to subordinate American interests to those of any foreign nation, and specifically are unwilling to challenge Israel's interests when they conflict with American interests; this policy, evidenced by the failure to defend USS Liberty and the subsequent official cover-up of the Israeli attack, endangers the safety of Americans and the security of the United States.

Thanks but to be honest, I don't buy magazines. Why would I pay money to people to lie to me, advertise their useless goods and market human flesh?

What do I get out of it?

I have a great book that keeps me busy night and day: The Quran.

You cannot tire of its endless subjects and connections.

Ali Mu'mineen once said that a stupid person has the quality of thinking something he doesn't know isn't worth knowing.

I'd say that anyone who doesn't familiarize themself with the Greatest Book ever revealed is not only ignorant but he/she is also doomed.

The NYT..well. It is a Jewish publication and sorry but I don't trust those people as far as I can throw them. The Quran states it openly about them and who am I to differ?

One only has to see the facts of the Middle East to know about that tribe's absolute failure to do justice to themselves let alone the pious muslims and christians whom they ride like donkeys.

Ok...your loss. Good article on how Israel started the war, thats all. But I'm sure you already know that.

Ah well my apologies. I'm sure you meant well. I just don't really believe in magazines anymore.

I was here when the war started. I know how they started it and why. I only provide information on various topics relating to Israel's crimes against humanity so that people who are unaware of them will perhaps pay attention now.

I've been researching the conflict for over ten years now...things like the USS Liberty incident and the King David Hotel are not news to me.

I did hope for better between the Arabs and Israel but it is clear to me now that Israel is not only duplicitous but guilty on all counts.

What to do? Really...what to do. Just wait and watch from a safe distance however painful that might become in the very near future as things here continue to unfold.

There is a hadith that states that a time will come when each period of time will be worse than the one preceeding it and without remission.

I kinda think we're in it now. Allah it seems has an extensive plan for us all.

Allah and Yahweh have nothing to do with it.
Geopolitics, oil, and money have everything to do with it.

Religion is not the issue, nor does god give a good god-damn for taking 'sides'.

Read the article.

Read the article? Why should I do that? I've read far more about the USS Liberty than most. I've read far more about the King David bombing and have seen far more than articles to know what truth looks like.

For a person (anonymously) to chime in about how this isn't about religion...well. You aren't a muslim and you aren't being attacked.

We are and by Christian fanatics that wouldn't know a sacred text if it hit them in the head.

that still has nothing to do with god. it has to do with fanatics. the issues in the region are tribal, primarily, and now driven by the geopolitical importance of that gooey black shit that used to be dinosaurs and giant ferns.

picture the middle east without oil. picture a very very different scenario viz a viz israel/palestine, picture a saudi state with no power, picture iraq as a tribal area, picture iran as an ancient culture trying to survive in a modern world.

all this change you picture will have nothing to do with god or religion, and everything to do with oil, power and money.

I picture Iraq as an Islamic State and in the end, it will be.

You can count on it.

and should Lebanon be an Islamic state as well?

Carmenisacat said...

Well that is a very good question.

Not yet. Maybe if the next conflict becomes as un-negotiable as this one has become in Iraq..then yes. Islam historically is very good at restoring social order in times of anomie.

I found an article about post genocide Rwanda some time back and guess what? Record numbers of reversions and people found healing in that and as well, social law that was needed to restore something resembling humanitarian behavior amongst indivudials.

The Christian "sect" doesn't really offer anything to the suffering and oppressed people in the world anymore and for crying out loud...no one even follows the Pope's orders. In my opinion, the only reason the Catholic church still exists is because it has so many people it supposedly represents..no more and no less.

It was never meant (Christianity) to be a separated "religion" from Allah's religion (which logically is ONE philosophy for the ONE leader). Problem is...so many people are just so convinced that we have a different leader named "Allah" and theirs is either named "Jesus Christ" or "God". In the first case, they have assigned a human partner to "Allah" and in the second, they took a word out of pagan mythology and have mistaken it for a different Creator.

Thanks though for your visit once again and by all means, next time you really ought to give yourself a name.

Ghosts around here usually get treated pretty badly because so many have haunted my doorstep way past their welcome.

Peace
