The Chargers from The Glorious Quran:
I swear by the runners breathing pantingly,
Then those that produce fire striking,
Then those that make raids at morn,
Then thereby raise dust,
Then rush thereby upon an assembly:
Most surely man is ungrateful to his Lord.
And most surely he is a witness of that.
And most surely he is tenacious in the love of wealth.
Does he not then know when what is in the graves is raised,
And what is in the breasts is made.apparent?
Most surely their Lord that day shall be fully aware of them.
Thousands of religious hardliners chanting "Death to America" gathered in Iran's central desert on Tuesday to celebrate a failed US hostage rescue mission 26 years ago.
The anniversary of the US military debacle came amid a mounting war of words with Washington, reported to be mulling the use of force to rein in the Islamic republic's disputed nuclear programme.
Iranian officials used the occasion to tell US leaders that they risked yet more "divine intervention" if they dared to again set foot on Iranian soil.
...many people do not know that episode in US history...it isn't a story oft repeated in the press here in the "so called" free world.
This years anniversary of the Divine Intervention:
http://www.denverpost.com/war/ci_9042287
"Hundreds at the ceremony kneeled in the midday heat, remembering the day 28 years ago when U.S. helicopters on the hostage rescue mission were caught in a vicious sandstorm that led to the collision. Iranian clerical leaders have credited divine intervention for the incident.
"The sandstorm was God's miracle that protected the revolutionary Iran at that time from a foreign attack it was not militarily capable of dealing with," said Abdolrahim Rahimi, a cultural official in Tabas.
He said the gathering thanked God for "nullifying the conspiracy of the U.S. against the newly established Islamic republic." "
"Those who wait for some misfortune to befall you, then if you have a victory from Allah they say: Were we not with you? And if there is a chance for the unbelievers, they say: Did we not acquire the mastery over you and defend you from the believers? So Allah shall Judge between you on the day of resurrection, and Allah will by no means give the unbelievers a way against the believers." Imran, The Glorious Quran

There are so many lights
in the windows, the stars,
so many openings and silence
reveals the movement of night
creatures in the dust
through the leaves
what are they and where?
There are so many secrets
in these places of mine
so many left over pieces
to talk about
and I do.
The dog doesn't really care
but he stays until I am done.
He stays a bit longer
to examine something
in the night, some noise.
A rustle in the bushes -
a traitor it seems
is on the loose again.
This particular sea
is mighty, it is deep.
There is so much drowning there,
so many broken bones.

We landed on the beach in Bahia Kino
with our best memories and war stories,
monitoring time by watching shadows.
Simplicity is complex nowdays, so many gadgets.
There was a fire ring for instance,
and burning lanterns but no candles.
And diving birds,
there were three kinds and their bones.
An old friend caught trigger and hoped for flounder.
After he had too much to drink
he resembled a demon but his hands trembled.
Near the fire at night his eyes glistened.

In the morning there was contrition
and there were flies to spread contagion
by thieving sugar and contempt, a diligent crew.
How many times have I seen this before?
Insects and yeasts take people apart
one piece at a time. We collect wood
to burn, it holds us together as it consumes.

At dawn the sea leaves her glass behind,
ceramic prisons free for the taking.
I couldn't get enough, the sea is so generous.
I was questioned thoroughly,
my fingerprints in sand are still there.

We come from a family of campers,
we are honor bound.

we frequent several places, the animals know
when we are there. Lizards aren't so cautious.

Ali Mu'mineen (May Allah be pleased with the itrah of the Last Prophet, SA) often used the metaphor of a race towards death:
Praise be to Allah who established Islam and made it easy for those who approach it and gave strength to its columns against any one who tries to overpower it. So Allah made it (a source of) peace for him who clings to it, safety for him who enters it, argument for him who speaks about it, witness for him who fights with its help, light for him who seeks light from it, understanding for him who provides it, sagacity for him who exerts, a sign (of guidance) for him who perceives, sight for him who resolves, lesson for him who seeks advice, salvation for him who testifies, confidence for him who trusts, pleasure for him who entrusts, and shield for him who endures.
It is the most bright of all paths, the clearest of all passages. It has dignified minarets, bright highways, burning lamps, prestigious field of activity, and high objectives. It has a collection of race horses. It is approached eagerly. Its riders are honourable. Testimony (of Allah, Prophet etc.) is its way, good deeds are its minarets, death is its extremity, this world is its race-course, the Day of Judgement is its horses and Paradise is its point of approach.

Ali ibn Abi Taleb related:
"Doubt is named doubt because it resembles truth. As for lovers of Allah, their conviction serves them as light and the direction of the right path (itself) serves as their guide; while the enemies of Allah, in time of doubt call to misguidance in the darkness of doubt and their guide is blindness (of intelligence). One who fears death cannot escape it nor can one who fears for eternal life secure it."

of Knowledge
and Power
Or rather, the expertise and lack of same
Over it are nineteen.
And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. - The Cloathed One (or hidden secret) from the Glorious Quran. This is the sura for the non muslims who languish in the land of their own ignorance. It is the proof to the physicists, Darwinists, numerologists and those of whom have in their "books" the symbol still existant in their knowledges. It is the coup d'etat.
Who cares really? What I think about poets and poetry can be found here. That is a poem titled The Flood and it covers what I think about that issue.
Truth. How does one explain to someone who doesn't understand it, the notion that there is an ultimate truth? It is the case that only those who have knowledge understand it and until a person has that knowledge a person will invent a tremendous number of theories regarding the constitution of truth. They will go to many extremes in order to demonstrate to others that they do indeed possess this thing called (interchangably) truth, knowledge, certitude. Certitude being the best descriptor for that exceptionally valuable characteristic which is in fact, the thing that poets ought to possess, seek and how to say it? Win. Yes. Win. Certitude comes from being on the right side of the collective argument. Certitude is also a function of time and the hewing of the soul in the same manner that precious metal is smelted from the combination of basic elements that constitute reality.
The delivery of that certitude to a person is seemingly an arbitrary thing. It is extraneous to the actual job of getting it i.e. by studying, acquiring, purchasing, etc. I imagine that those who are hell bent on the process (like this very entertaining example suggests) like to refer to it as intellectual property. Those in fact believe that there is an actual commerce to be had in it. Some people on this planet literally possess it as a birthright. That is, I imagine, the hardest pill to swallow for those without that precious birthright.
In some ways, the actual possession of certitude is akin to the act of lapping up the water in a mirage, it is that delicate. Now, think about it. If a person is able to drink from that mirage and they know that they are quenching their thirst from such a thing, how likely is it that that same person might surrender their right to that well? Not very likely but even so, it is the case that a person sipping or gulping from the edge of such a tremendously fragile thing must forever be on their guard for tricksters who present a variety of other types of illusions as was the case with the famous pair, Harut and Marut.... "evil was the price for which they sold their souls, had they but known this."
So, what then, is the job of poetry and the measure of poets?
You tell me Mr. Silliman. You are the expert. Sadly enough, the polluted well you drink from is nearly dry. What then?
In what is widely cited as the "17th" sermon of Ali ibn Abi Taleb (May Allah be pleased with him and his Ahl Bayt), the four types of experts in the world are described and hence, I liken you to at least one type in there:
About those who sit for dispensation of justice among people but are not fit for it.
Among(1) all the people the most detested before Allah are two persons. One is he who is devoted to his self. So he is deviated from the true path and loves speaking about (foul) innovations and inviting towards wrong path. He is therefore a nuisance for those who are enamoured of him, is himself misled from the guidance of those preceding him, misleads those who follow him in his life or after his death, carries the weight of others' sins and is entangled in his own misdeeds.
The other man is he who has picked up ignorance. He moves among the ignorant, is senseless in the thick of mischief and is blind to the advantages of peace. Those resembling like men have named him scholar but he is not so. He goes out early morning to collect things whose deficiency is better than plenty, till when he has quenched his thirst from polluted water and acquired meaningless things.
He sits among the people as a judge responsible for solving whatever is confusing to the others. If an ambiguous problem is presented before him he manages shabby argument about it of his own accord and passes judgement on its basis. In this way he is entangled in the confusion of doubts as in the spider's web, not knowing whether he was right or wrong. If he is right he fears lest he erred, while if he is wrong he hopes he is right. He is ignorant, wandering astray in ignorance and riding on carriages aimlessly moving in darkness. He did not try to find reality of knowledge. He scatters the traditions as the wind scatters the dry leaves.
By Allah, he is not capable of solving the problems that come to him nor is fit for the position assigned to him. Whatever he does not know he does not regard it worth knowing. He does not realise that what is beyond his reach is within the reach of others. If anything is not clear to him he keeps quiet over it because he knows his own ignorance. Lost lives are crying against his unjust verdicts, and properties (that have been wrongly disposed of) are grumbling against him.
I complain to Allah about persons who live ignorant and die misguided. For them nothing is more worthless than Qur'an if it is recited as it should be recited, nor anything more valuable than the Qur'an if its verses are removed from their places, nor anything more vicious than virtue nor more virtuous than vice.
Why would I bother with such a thing? Well, because I can. Because yes indeed, I'm one of those who is blessed with this commodity called certitude and in that I can discriminate about those that do not possess it nor can they nor do they claim to possess it. It is the one characteristic that is best in people like you i.e. this mandatory piousness of the ignorant although I'm relatively sure that some like you literally bite off the ends of their fingers in rage at us Shia Muslims (Glen Beck comes to mind). It is truly a brave assertion we Shia make and it is ours to make. No....I do not have the Y chromosome (like Sayyed Hassan Nasrallah or Sayyed Sistani or the Grand Ayatollah Khomeini (May Allah be pleased with all of them)) but for whatever reason, I was arbitrarily selected by Allah to have this precious commodity that is (in the words of the Quran) a mighty good fortune.
And of course, I know this about you. You will not assert that you have this certitude. The great thing about certitude is that we are allowed to know this about those who lack it. But go ahead...claim it if you believe it to be your right. In the meantime, continue showing how your ignorance plays such a vital role in this vanity known as poetry. It's awfully entertaining sometimes. And I mean, awfully.
I cannot assert that you do not possess faith in something because obviously you do. If it was the case however that you possessed faith in the right thing, then...it would be obvious not only to me but to the thousand or so readers you have every day. The great thing about certitude is this power of recognition.
Surely the (true) religion with Allah is Islam, and those to whom the Book had been given did not show opposition but after knowledge had come to them, out of envy among themselves; and whoever disbelieves in the communications of Allah then surely Allah is quick in reckoning. - Imran, The Glorious Quran*.
*Not the "almost great" Quran mind you. The Glorious Quran. Imran (pbuh) was the father of the most holy of women, the mother of the prophet Isa (pbut) whose name was Miriam and whose noble sura is in the most special of numerical/gematric positions of "19".
Go figure. I study the most perfect long poem of them all Mr. Silliman. What would a stupid person like me know about this thing called poetry! Heh. I know more than Nietzsche ever could have imagined. All things considered however, this doesn't make me a better muslim or a better person. It simply means I know the power of knowledge, the effect it has on others and the manner in which to use it to elicit a variety of responses from a variety of people. I must always be careful not to abuse it but in this case, you asked for it. Therefore, the blame rests solely on you Ron Silliman. Don't ask questions that you do not really want the answers to.

In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful.
The Beneficent God,
Taught the Quran.
He created man,
Taught him the mode of expression.
The sun and the moon follow a reckoning.
And the herbs and the trees do adore (Him).
And the heaven, He raised it high, and He made the balance
That you may not be inordinate in respect of the measure.
And keep up the balance with equity and do not make the measure deficient.
And the earth, He has set it for living creatures;
Therein is fruit and palms having sheathed clusters,
And the grain with (its) husk and fragrance.
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
He created man from dry clay like earthen vessels,
And He created the jinn of a flame of fire.
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
Lord of the East and Lord of the West.
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
He has made the two seas to flow freely (so that) they meet together:
Between them is a barrier which they cannot pass.
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
There come forth from them pearls, both large and small.
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
And His are the ships reared aloft in the sea like mountains.
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
Everyone on it must pass away.
And there will endure for ever the person of your Lord, the Lord of glory and honor.
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
All those who are in the heavens and the earth ask of Him; every moment He is in a state (of glory).
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
Soon will We apply Ourselves to you, O you two armies.
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?
O assembly of the jinn and the men! If you are able to pass through the regions of the heavens and the earth, then pass through; you cannot pass through but with authority.
Which then of the bounties of your Lord will you deny?

Never was a parable so small,
so blood filled as the legend
of the dog tick. Out in the garden
where butterflies tarry
and startle, those
who have shadows
meander by.
Remember when they
began one miracle
and another? It was
twenty-seven cacoons
resurrecting. Oh yes!
we were eating
our break-fasts. Woke up and just
started eating. All the noises
of the world rewinding
but not like the sound of a tick
as it burns and snaps
in the ashtray
as he moves on.
Burn tick burn, bother not the dog.
Leave behind your treasure.
We wait for the return,
the one on the wind, one
past the famine-filled graves.
Allah Kareem, the Most Generous.
Allah the Most Merciful and Wise.
The tick fasts and gorges and dies.
We only watch a while
as we wait and prepare
for the parable lives on.
Ode to the Two Pointers
Hanging up there between our clothes line
and theirs, a hand could borrow sugar
from our open windows, that close,
a two-pointer hung by the haunches, eyes all froze.
We came home running to see what was shot,
heard it all the way down by Old Man Riley's garage,
a two pointer, not a doe. Everyone heard it.
It was big news, big game and there he was,
hanging over the squash and winter iris
looking out like that, just looking.
A pressure cooker steamed inside
the kitchen window, it tooted and hissed
while he dangled there waiting to be divided.
Takes a long time to cut up a deer like that,
and longer still, to bag one.
Times were pretty lean, the winters pretty cold.
La ilaha ilalah, this in the fortress of plenty.

Witnessing the gradual demise of the rogue state once known as "Israel"
Israel WILL be giving back the Golan Heights whether she likes it or not. How long before that happens? Well, as these things go...Israel is an entrenched and bitter enemy. It is an enemy that Hezbollah leader Nasrallah always speaks highly of i.e. that they do not forget their dead soldiers, their prisoners of war nor do they lose sight of their cause. The fact that Israel and its supporters believe that those two sentiments are the right only of "their" type of people (ethnocentristic and xenophobic as it is) matters not to Nasrallah and the rest of us "Shia". The fact that their cause i.e. a state solely for one ethnic group is an evil one does matter because Allah doesn't like those types of causes. Period.
Israel's goal since it's inception was based on the notoriously bigoted views of Theodor Herzl and David Ben Gurion. Both of them spewed outrageous amounts and types of hatred towards Arabs. The entire state of Israel was based on their disgusting rhetoric and rationale. Hordes of people have been brainwashed over the past half of a century into believing it. Boggles my mind as to exactly how anyone could allow themself to be so obviously misled. But it does indicate to me the truth about all people.
Some people LIE and some just LIKE THE LIE. The two are relatively equal in my book. And then of course there are the others that feign ignorance yet...yet...they pose as such viable and intelligent creatures to other people. I'm not really sure which group I dislike more. There are so many moral facets to that little grouping of individuals and really, out of the four types of people...every person in this world is in at least ONE of those categories. The fourth group is composed of those who tell the truth and know what it looks like and they never exchange truth for the lie.
Truth, being what it is, isn't something else. Truth is not a multiple choice question. It is most naturally true or false. When writing one of those types of questions, the teacher cannot substitute ten different options for "truth". The only option in which there exists five or six squillion types of responses is the category called falsehood. This simple notion....is simple. It is so simple yet so many have chosen the wrong answer.
Israel versus Syria
"Damascus says it has received Israeli commitments for a full withdrawal from the occupied-Golan Heights, the main sticking point in previous talks.
Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert has carefully avoided mentioning the Golan but has drawn fire after hinting that Israel would have to pay a painful price for a peace accord.
The strategic Golan plateau was seized by Israel in the 1967 Arab-Israeli war and annexed in 1981 in a move never recognised internationally. "

Lo! you are they who will love them while they do not love you, and you believe in the Book (in) the whole of it; and when they meet you they say: We believe, and when they are alone, they bite the ends of their fingers in rage against you. Accomplished by the followers of the Ahl Bayt (the household of the prophet Mohamed and his twelve successful and successive Imams, may Allah shower them with blessings and mercy):
http://www.al-islam.org/gallery/kids/Books/companion9/7.htm
The technique utilized in this instance during the past week in Lebanon is something I call, "The Euphrates Doctrine" or....I guess you could call it "Enough is Enough". Following is a well known excerpt from the battle diaries which are collected in the Peak of Eloquence (a must read for those who crave real knowledge about Islam, the Quran, Sectarianism, Truth and Justice):
The Battle of Siffeen
The Imam chose the good persons to rule the cities. So, he appointed Malik al Ashtar ruler over Mousal, Sinjar, Naseebeen, Heet, and Anat. They are areas on the borders of Shaam.
Mu'awiyah disobeyed the Caliph. He became a dictator in Shaam.
The Imam tried to persuade Mu'awiyah to obey him. He sent him several letters, sent some delegates to talk with him. But all the Imam's efforts were in vain.
Thus the Imam formed an army and gave its leadership to Malik al-Ashtar.
The army advanced towards Shaam. It arrived in Kirkeesya, where it clashed with the Shamian Army headed by Abi al-Awar al-Salmy.
Malik al-Ashtar tried to persuade the leader of the army to end the mutiny and to obey Amirul Mu'mineen, but he refused.
At night, the Shamian Army took advantage of time and launched a surprise attack. That action was contrary to the religion and politeness because the two parties were in negotiations.
The Caliph's Army resisted the surprising attack. It killed and wounded many attackers and forced the others to withdraw to their original places.
Again Malik al-Ashtar showed his bravery. He sent a man to Abi al-Awar to invite him to duel with swords.
The man said:
Abi al-Awar, Malik al-Ashtar is inviting you to duel with him!
The leader of Mu'awiyah's Army became afraid and with cowardice said:
I don't want to duel with him!
Mu'awiyah headed a big army to join the Shamian Army.
The two armies met in the plain of Siffeen on the banks of the Euphrates.
Some units of Mu'awiyah's Army occupied the banks and besieged the river.
That action was also contrary to the laws of Islam and the laws of war.
The Imam sent Sasaah bin Suhan, one of the companions of the Prophet [s], to Mu'awiyah to talk with him.
Sasaah came into Mu'awiyah's tent and said:
Mu'awiyah, Ali says:
"Let's take some water. Then we'll decide what's between you and us, otherwise we will fight each other till the victor drinks."
Mu'awiyah kept silent and said:
I'll answer you later on.
The Imam's representative went out. Mu'awiyah asked the advice of some men. So al-Waleed said with spite:
Prevent them from drinking water to force them to surrender.
They agreed on this opinion.
Mu'awiyah gathered all the evil persons around him. They violated the laws of Islam and of human rights.
Malik al-Ashtar was watching the military movements on the river banks. He saw military supplies. So, he realized that Mu'awiyah would tighten the siege.
The Imam's soldiers became thirsty. Malik became thirsty, too. So, a soldier said to him:
There's only little water in my water-skin, please drink it.
Malik refused that and said:
I won't drink till all soldiers drink!
Malik went to the Imam and said:
Amirul Mu'mineen, our soldiers are very thirsty. We've nothing but fighting.
The Imam answered:
Yes.
The Imam gave the soldiers a speech and urged them to fight bravely.
Then he said:
Death is that man is pleased with abasement. And life is that man who dies and becomes a martyr.
Malik led the first attack at the Battle of Siffeen. And he began fighting bravely. So, he advanced towards the banks of the Euphrates.
After violent clashes, Malik could recapture the river banks and force Mu'awiyah's Army to withdraw.
Mu'awiyah's Army became far from water. So, they thought of a trick to recapture its places on the River Euphrates.
On the following day, an arrow fell among the Imam's soldiers. There was a letter tied to the arrow. The soldiers read the letter carefully. They passed on the news quickly to each other. The news was:
From a loyal brother in the Shamian Army, Mu'awiyah is going to open the river to drown you. So, be careful!
The soldiers believed the news and withdrew. The Shamian Army took advantage of the situation and recaptured the river banks.
But the Imam's Army launched a general attack and dismissed the Shamian Army from the region.
Mu'awiyah was so worried that he asked Amru bin al-Aas:
Do you think Ali will prevent us from drinking water?
Amru bin al-Aas answered:
Ali doesn't do as you do!
The Shamian soldiers were worried, too. Immediately, the soldiers heard that Imam Ali [a] allowed them to come to the river to drink water.
Some people from Shaam realized the difference between Mu'awiyah and Ali. Mu'awiyah did every evil action for victory. But Ali did not think about that at all. He conformed to the human, good, ideal behaviour.
Thus, the soldiers of the Shamian Army left Mu'awiyah's front secretly at night. They joined Ali's front because it was always representing truth and humanity.
For the past two years, ever since the assault on Lebanon which was carried out by Israel, the US and it's cronies inside of Lebanon, Hezbollah has been encamped in the downtown area. They camped there peacefully and this week they demobilized and left the area planted with flowers. They didn't leave a shred of garbage behind. Because, the Shia are a different sort of animal. One that everyone should become familiar with because they are the successful. There is no doubt about it anymore for those with knowledge.
Enough is enough.
The second possible brake is the fact that Hezbollah is now compelled to work within Lebanon's government, rather than against it, in a country with a multitude of sects and shifting alliances.
It is almost impossible for any one group to dominate such a diverse country, as foreign invaders or occupiers over the centuries have learned. That could force Hezbollah to compromise with other Lebanese factions not eager for another war with Israel.
Yet the same deal that gave Hezbollah a veto over unfriendly government actions also set up a new electoral system likely to give its allies a bigger chunk of parliamentary seats.
Hezbollah spokesman Ghassan Darwish said after the deal was announced: "We are now strongly participating in the country's decision-making, after having been kept away from participation."
Now...let me elaborate. Hezbollah is clearly the winner. It IS possible for one group to lead the others to success. It is a myth that the media spreads which tells people "you cannot beat an oppressor". It is a blatant lie. This is not the first clear victory for the followers of Ahl Bayt (the household of the Prophet Mohamed, peace and blessings upon them all) and it is not the last one either. It is a divine victory for the whole of Lebanon.
Solideire stocks which were meandering well below the pre-Hariri assassination HIGHS are now at 37 dollars a share. This is after a split before Hariri was assassinated (by pro Israel/US operatives inside of Lebanon) which doubled shareholders stakes in the enigmatic downtown reconstruction efforts which were created by Rafic Hariri himself. Solideire stocks are the weather vane of economic cheer inside of Lebanon as well as outside. Observers might be surprised to know that even though Lebanon has suffered seemingly insurmountable odds created when Israel tried to ethnically cleanse Lebanon of Shia by totally destroying the infrastructure of the country using American weaponry and diplomatic cover in 2006, property values there did not decrease. They practically doubled.
Hezbollah was not "kept" out of anything. These types of SPUN stories mislead readers. Hezbollah kept itself out of political brokering with US supported lackeys like Fouad Siniora (pathetic helper of Israel and the US), Walid Jumblatt (liar, hypocrit and King Hussein wannabe who was photographed on a Harley wearing jeans just prior to his meetings with Cheney and Co.) and the notoriously idiotic son of Rafic Hariri (Ivy-league educated plaything of the Saudi dynasty who is well known for his drunkeness and druggery). Nasrallah refused to broker deals with known culprits and liars. Why on earth would he cooperate with evil doers? Ludicrous! The old myth of "if you can't beat 'em, join 'em" is so wrong. THEY can be beat. Absolutely. Evil people can not only be beat but they WILL be beat.
And then, beat again when they enter the gates of hell accompanying each other.
Israel is a clear loser. And what does anyone expect from that sort of thing...something good? Israel can never amount to anything good. Except that it will serve as a reminder to nations in the future of what not to do and especially, who not to do it to.
Come to success. Come to Islam.
The Believers (Proof 23, The Glorious Qu'ran)
Successful indeed are the believers,
Then as for him whose good deeds are preponderant, these are the successful.
And whoever invokes with Allah another god-- he has no proof of this-- his reckoning is only with his Lord; surely the unbelievers shall not be successful.

THE LONGER FARTHER
There's a poem that got him into heaven
with apologies to Whitman, I think.
It spoke of a desert watering hole
all God's creatures crying
the same way, a manzanita bush.
He must have eye watered while he wrote it
laughed when it was published in the local rag.
He must have laughed. Not loved either
but published finally. His life story
on the front page, with apologies:
Lili Marlene, the frozen toes of Aleutia,
the family part of mining.
Part one concludes.
II
Here is the day he was discharged
honorably from eight years of his life,
a wallet sized picture of a road grader in microfiche.
III
This is the time he leapt
like the elk over the Impala at Tonto,
my body waiting below in the gully for transport
between my sister's big breasts under
a Catholic style shirt front, she held me in c-spine.
Those were good times: a father saving a daughter,
a sister to lean on, a hospital to go to.
IV
He kept the nuts and bolts out back,
jar lids screwed to the bottoms of cupboards,
nailed the latch back into place on the back door
which was broken from the banging.
He fixed the washer with his specs
perched low on his nose,
his eyes peeking over them and shining.

Right there above his protruding celtic brow
was a perfect hole - a focal point
and in his casket
I noticed it was as it always was.
The snapshot of his dead body is in the album.

She came for a spell to sit at the dinner table
tell stories with certain embellishments.
His mother had an ax to grind:
grandpa's mistress out in the valley,
some other children named the Driggers, distant cousins.
How mean grandma got over that.
She liked to hit us with her crutch
and loved to play solitaire on the side
of her bed before a nap.
It is strange how long one can remember, how details
hidden come to the forefront in Riyadh,
long distance sisterhood and her swollen ankles
aching from the flight. It matters because I never knew.

Just a piece of metal, a broken one now
but you are okay, you are okay he said. Driving isn't
always easy on Laundry Hill but you are okay.
The new brougham crushed from fender to rear.
It was all a daughter ever wanted to hear,
caught me a little off guard. Mom advised:
You've got to tell your father, not me.
It'll be good for the both of you.
I think it was our only conversation
because he saved up the rest of his talk
for that poem to get him into heaven,
it was the only time he ever openly
acknowledged the Almighty.
He had that kind of self confidence you get
from fighting in a war, a monotheist of sorts
who knew the value of keeping quiet.

We were in the lumber yard,
I was holding a grape Nehi,
while Red added up the total
for two by fours and four by fours.
We tooled around town like that for a couple years
when he was sober and preparing to die.
Just a pause he was taking between drinks,
about five years of dry wall and fixing the electric,
balancing on ladders, picking stucco out of my eye.
He took me everywhere to wait at counters,
fidget and just sit in the front seat.
He'd take a hit of oxygen between corners.
Sometimes I held a hammer or a jar of nails
taken from the washroom.
Then it all changed. He made
one last stand, hero no more.
My father decided to drink himself to death
instead of shoot the bastard
and he did. May 23 to May 23
but they got it backwards at the printers:
born 1983 - died 1914

His poem is somewhere else,
yellowed; out of date; with apologies.
I keep writing it longer, farther.

According to US Senate Intelligence Committee sources, the Bush administration initially green lighted the intended May 11 Israel 'demonstration of solidarity with the pro-Bush administration militias, some with which Israel has maintained ties since the days of Bashir Gemayal and Ariel Sharon.
In the end, 'the Bush administration got cold feet', a Congressional source revealed. So did Israel.
Israel was not willing to proceed with the original Bush Administration idea which was to have Bush attend the May 15 Israel anniversary celebrations following the Israeli attack meant to hit Hezbollah hard, and give Bush the credit for coming to the dangerous region. The message was to be that Bush comes to the rescue 'on horseback and leads the US Calvary charge straight out of a B western movie where the bugle would sound and flag would be unfurled and the white hat good guys would show their stuff before riding into the sunset and back to Texas, leaving the results to the likely Obama administration to sort out.
The plan involved Israeli air strikes on South and West Beirut in support of forces it was assured would be able to surprise and resist Hezbollah and sustain a powerful offensive for 48 hours.
Also presumably disturbing to Israel was the report it received that Hezbollah had once again in all probability hacked its 'secure' military intelligence communications and the fear that the information would be shared with others.

The spider and the gnat
are signs to those who know,
the bee and the ant
are signs to those who know,
the sun and the moon
are signs to those who know.
But who are they?
About those who sit for dispensation of justice among people but are not fit for it.
"Among(1) all the people the most detested before Allah are two persons.
For them nothing is more worthless than Qur'an if it is recited as it should be recited, nor anything more valuable than the Qur'an if its verses are removed from their places, nor anything more vicious than virtue nor more virtuous than vice."
May Allah be pleased with them both.

I've a thing or two to tell ya pard that I think you ought to know,
About that rusty bucket Sully carries down below.
You're not the first one, stranger, who laughed at Sully's pail.
You're the only one who's laughing now, the rest have heard the tale.
When we were young and handsome, had some ten years in the game,
Old Sull he had a partner, and Jim Riley was his name....
The four of us together, we were working side by side.
That's how come I chanced to be there on the night Jim Riley died.
Well the blasting had been easy, it was running out like sand.
An we were mucking out the ore; those days we mucked by hand.
And we were nearly finished, and I hadn't heard a sound.
But something must have happened, "Cause Jim Riley yelled "bad ground."
When we headed for the timberin', Sully must of took a spill
‘Cause when we looked back in there he was pinned beneath his drill.
The ceiling it was groanin' now, all set to drop its lid.
And Sully pinned beneath his drill was sobbin' like a kid.
Now there's men can watch their partners die, not throw their lives away.
But Riley wasn't one of them, he wasn't built that way.
As soon's he seen what happened, "Hey, hold on there Sull," he cried.
And before he had the words out, he'd thrown the drill aside.
Well, they headed ‘round the ore car, Riley wearing a big grin.
Guess he never knew what happened when the hanging wall came in.
Sully reached the timberin', his face as white as chalk.
And Riley, four yards back of him, caught fifteen ton of rock.
That day Sully's pail was buried, he ate from Riley's pail in tears.
And he's carried that same bucket now for almost twenty years.
So you can laugh at Sully, because he's mean and drinks a lot.
But don't laugh at Sully's bucket, it's the only friend he's got.

The Funnel Effect (http://www.ailf.org/ipc/policybrief/policybrief_020607.shtml) was and is knowingly CAUSED by securing the borders with Mexico in areas that are passable, relatively safe and had been used for decades if not centuries for the natural immigrations of Latin American peoples. The United States knowingly created an open "no man's land" in the Sonoran Desert to be used as a deterrant to immigration. The deterrant used?
Death itself.
And it's working but not as a deterrant. It is successful simply as a means of killing illegal immigrants by torturous means.
Truth of the matter is....I lived in Saudi Arabia where there were over 18 million LEGAL foreign workers. Want to know how that country achieved a somewhat fair solution?
They made the business owners who imported labor pay for the worker's health care and made them provide housing. Sure, it wasn't perfect but it was certainly better than what the US has managed to do.

BBC Journalist admits to drinking the 9/11 Kool-Aid (****Jim Jones Highball):
I'm still quite amazed that people buy the 9/11 story as portrayed by the government of the United States. Are they nuts?
Absolutely. It is called Mass Hysteria and it is alive and well in the minds of so many Americans.
About the only thing that is "alive and well" in them if you ask me. Sheesh, one out of four teenage girls infected with a genital disease or two and the United States with 1 out of every 100 citizens in jail (when we constitute a mere 5% of the population of the world and that is a startling statistic).

Up on highway eighty
you can see what fire does
and what it does not.
I have to wonder about the two
British ladies in Tombstone
who wanted to go to the
Chicawow-wows, to Apache lands.
One of them
just now wearing
her new wide-brimmed hat,
one of them hoping
for the Organ Pipe National Forest.
She tells me Britain
has history and you've got Geology.
Like I don't know
what we call in these parts:
diddly squat.
Oh! such mighty deportations!
La ila'ha il'la Huwa,
mammoths in caliche,
this is my beloved slag.
See that here? The color of the map
in Yuma is gray. There is a reason
for that. Go up the San Simon way,
take the Gleeson road
but first stop by and see
what the fire does not do
over time
to the miners and the mining.
Trust me, skip Las Vegas.
We're all just tourists,
those are all my fathers
and as I shimmy into town
through the Mule Pass
it is all very new to me.
Once again, the long way.

This pretty life is death's comma,
we are in between, constructing
the darkest layer in the top soils
over which the eagle flies
with the owl, as same as the bug.
Once I stood on a reservation
for Indians and thought.
The wild wisdoms entered
into the world's recorder
like drugs with the cackle
of gypsies and caw of old birds.
When suddenly! Like that!
…the newest grand canyon opened
her secret vaults to receive
the sound and reek of vomit leaving the throat
of a drunkard who turned in and then, sped away.
Ah, the stories the rocks will tell.

BEYOND GREED to the wha? GENE POLICE? Indian Cotton farmers committing suicide? What the hell?
What's wrong with the bees?
THIS. You see, bees secrete a substance on their abdomens that serves as a type of eugenics. Allah created and driven eugenics...not the human kind. It is used to control the size of hives and is entirely dependent on what the bees consume (pollen).
Monsanto. 90% of the agricultural market...that's a monopoly and there you have it...Soylent Green, Agent Orange...no. Just plain old garden products..that's what's killing the bees. The byproducts of these agents are known as PCBs and are as bad or worse than, Depleted Uranium. Bovine hormones injected into cattle to increase dairy production by at least 20% are worse than Depleted Uranium. DU is the tip of the industrial trash iceberg....it's far worse than anyone suspected. Far, far worse. And yes, DU is basically nuclear WASTE with fins which is deposited on unsuspecting victims of war crimes and occupations (Iraq, Lebanon, Iran to name a few)
You think you are safe if you don't live in Iraq? Nope, yer not. Not anymore.
Boycott them. Towns and cities need to enact restrictions and ban these Mega-Conglomerates from doing business. Forget about the Drug War or the War on Terror...these are the folks that are killing people and of course, the bees.
Substantial Equivalence is basically the creation of FAKE FOOD. Yes, Virginia, that is why a watermelon doesn't taste like a watermelon anymore and exactly why we can eat a watermelon without "all that suffering" involved in the SEEDS. Imagine!
Flipping unbelievable. Perhaps the best part of the video is George Bush Senior's cameo appearance on the DE REGULATION committee visit to the Monsanto headquarters.
EMS? Thousands disabled from the consumption of L-Tryptophan? Well of course. When I worked with the world's foremost metabolic specialist in Riyadh (Dr. Pinar T. Ozand), we basically used amino acids which were missing due to congenital "inborn" errors of metabolism (from consanguinous unions which tend to produce a variety of results) in order to establish "normal" human metabolism i.e. which is basically the result of glucose metabolism (Kreb's cycle, remember it? probably not). People think that these little chemicals are innocuous but I'm here to tell you, they aren't at all innocuous.
From the Proof called The Bee:
[16.4] He created man from a small seed and lo! he is an open contender.
[16.17] Is He then Who creates like him who does not create? Do you not then mind?
[16.56] And they set apart for what they do not know a portion of what We have given them. By Allah, you shall most certainly be questioned about that which you forged.

no one lies after a coma.
If they sleep, they sleep
only a little and insomnia
doesn't seem to bother them.
We all walked outside
together like that,
into the back alley
a perfect back alley
in a slow motion town
on the border
where I sat and considered
Framingham, Massachussetts.
A whole town measured out
grace in urine cups
and xrays. One by one
they told the truth about it
and Chagas is what you call
an emerging disease.
It gets up into your heart
after years of living on the edge.
I've seen those things on leaves
yet still, I never kill
a single one of them
or scorpions but I do
run away like a kid
fighting wasps. Once
I showed a furry
little beast to a poverty
stricken woman
and she crushed it.
It was a tarantula,
we're all just flesh and bone.
She was the first
to notice the invasion,
and ran up the hill
crying fee fi fo fum.
That was before the war
and power surges
took everything
we thought we owned.
It's one of the best things
that ever happened
but now, I don't take
any chances and put
nets over my bean stalks
and count them every day.

A Long Way To Pocatello Tonight
Have you ever seen
such a clean crowd of people
sitting in their folding chairs
listening
chortling,
have you ever seen
such a thing?
I have.
They're just everywhere.
They want stripper poets
killer poets and poets
who kill themselves
for a living
as ornery as that
must sound
to the untrained ear
that doesn't know
too much about
poetry but alot
about sitting in an audience.
It's a long way to Pocatello tonight
isn't it? I know it's a long way
but do tell me, how far?
Once, we met Rothenberg
and he knew about that distance
to Pocatello. Just discovered it.
I might just tell him tonight
how far Pocatello is
when there is no audience
and life is just a watch and a wait.

Arthur Koestler wrote that in the letter "one nation solemnly promised to a second nation the country of a third." More than that, the country was still part of the Empire of a fourth, namely Turkey.
(The Letter is on the Masthead)
It was decided by Lord Allenby that the "Declaration" should not then be published in Palestine where his forces were still south of the Gaza-Beersheba line. This was not done until after the establishment of the Civil Administration in 1920.
Then why was the "Declaration" made a year before the end of what was called The Great War?
"The people" were told at the time that it was given as a return for a debt of gratitude which they were supposed to owe to the Zionist leader (and first President of Israel), Chaim Weizman, a Russian-born immigrant to Britain from Germany who was said to have invented a process of fermentation of horse chestnuts into scarce acetone for production of high explosives by the Ministry of Munitions.
This horse chestnut propaganda production was not dislodged from the mass mind by the short bursts of another story which was used officially between the World Wars.
Sailing to Byzantium
by William Butler Yeats
THAT is no country for old men. The young
In one another's arms, birds in the trees
- Those dying generations - at their song,
The salmon-falls, the mackerel-crowded seas,
Fish, flesh, or fowl, commend all summer long
Whatever is begotten, born, and dies.
Caught in that sensual music all neglect
Monuments of unageing intellect.
An aged man is but a paltry thing,
A tattered coat upon a stick, unless
Soul clap its hands and sing, and louder sing
For every tatter in its mortal dress,
Nor is there singing school but studying
Monuments of its own magnificence;
And therefore I have sailed the seas and come
To the holy city of Byzantium.
O sages standing in God's holy fire
As in the gold mosaic of a wall,
Come from the holy fire, perne in a gyre,
And be the singing-masters of my soul.
Consume my heart away; sick with desire
And fastened to a dying animal
It knows not what it is; and gather me
Into the artifice of eternity.
Once out of nature I shall never take
My bodily form from any natural thing,
But such a form as Grecian goldsmiths make
Of hammered gold and gold enamelling
To keep a drowsy Emperor awake;
Or set upon a golden bough to sing
To lords and ladies of Byzantium
Of what is past, or passing, or to come.

as if it was blown into the halo of park lightsbetween strike three and batter up - Darla Whitehead, Pack of Lies
Yesterday about noon, this fellowfinds us out in the sun and says
he wants his test done now.
We of ambigious natures, nurses
working towards Armageddons
big and small, tow each other
like bricks into rooms
full of camphor and prevention.
It all starts there in the clinics,
under chairs where little girls
run to scream and hide. Big boys
grow pale and old men come to us
before they die to talk
about their daughters, to talk
about their sons. It has been
a long time of such things,
keeping the secrets of nature alive
in our pockets and cupboards,
writing down our sincerities
in diaries on demand. Up front
there are drawers full of history,
treacherous rumours named Murphy and Cline.
His hat suits him well I think
as he chatters on about his deeds.
What does this to us all?
What cause is there to explain?
I've lived and loved and laughed
this much and cried about the same.
Cold Radiations
A purse is robbed
and bothered.
All of them turn up empty,
every one you see.
At night in a dream
the perfect death is planned
and mourned. The djinn cries
generated automatically:
when a purse
is rubbed into the lamp,
the warmth of hands
inside all the last pockets,
faith in all the answers,
and mail order novenas.
Mother's purse was never like that,
equipped
with a fold out cup,
her Salem menthols
and a pack of tissues.
No genies. She opened it
close to the air cooler
in the dispensary
where Billie Alexander shelled
out Doan's for diamonds.
All of the patients trying to get out
the pill shop doors and windows
like cattle in the chute.
The cold air drifted up,
under long ago
into the Arizona radiations.
When her purse turned up empty
as they all do,
the origin of novenas was unknown.
Except for one thing – pills are past tense, history, just one of the obsolete dosage forms that are part of the trivia of the history of medicine. Even the rare holdovers from the glory days of patent medicines, Doan's Pills and Carter's Little Pills (once known as Carter's Little Liver Pills) aren't pills, they're tablets. The word "pill" may still be with us, but the pill – a dosage form made by combining some active drug with an inactive ingredient (soap, bread crumbs, or rose petals were common) that would give it volume, and honey, or later, glycerin (which might be added to keep the pills from getting hard), and rolled into a ball – is gone.
